Kulbicki Michel

Research Director

I work on the biology, ecology and macro-ecology of reef fishes, mainly from sites in the South Pacific, but I also work on a global scale in particular on questions related to macro-ecology and biogeography. These works try to bring : 1- a better understanding of the processes at the origin of the taxonomic and functional composition of reef fish assemblages, their densities, biomasses and at times productions in relation to a number of large scale factors (e.g. island size, SST, isolation, evolutionary history), local factors (e.g. coral or algae cover, reef type) and human factors (e.g. fishing, pollution); 2- try to bring pragmatic solutions for the management of the resources represented by reef fish.

Research Associate

I am  associate professor at the EPHE (Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes).

My research interests are diverse and include community ecology, macroecology, biogeography and conservation ecology in the marine realm. I am particularly interested in understanding the underlying mechanisms behind present biodiversity patterns, the functional organization of communities and their implication for conservation.
